While Phase I (Certified Detailer) Exams can be done online or in person, Phase II (Skills Validated) Exams must be done in person.
IDA Certification Events are hosted by Recognized Independent Trainers (RITs). A Recognized Independent Trainer (RIT) is an individual recognized by the IDA as qualified to offer quality training and that demonstrates the needed skill set to proctor IDA certification exams. RITs have proven to industry peers that they understand multi-faceted knowledge of techniques, terminology, and understanding of chemistry and their relation to detailing.
The role of the RIT within the IDA is to conduct certification testing for Certified Detailers (CD) and Skills Validated (SV) candidates and to be a resource for individuals seeking detailer training.
If you are looking for an in person event near you, check out the Certification Event Calendar here.
If you don't see an event near you on the calendar, please check back frequently, because we add new events each month as the RITs schedule them.
You may also reach out to an RIT near you to arrange an event or a one-on-one testing. You can find our directory of RITs here.
Additionally, we have a "Global SV Week" every year in October; most of our active RITs host at least one event during this Global SV Week.
If you attend industry events such as Mobile Tech Expo, Automechanika, and other tradeshows, IDA (or an International Chapter of IDA) may be hosting certification events in conjunction with the tradeshow or industry event. Keep an eye on the event calendar for those testing event opportunities.
